At Antler Ridge Co, we care deeply about the safety of your dog. We want to ensure our products are keeping your dog a happy, healthy chewer. Below is a list of general questions about chewing on antlers.  Every dog and every antler is different and some dogs chew more aggressively than others.  The size of your dog can contribute to how they chew antlers.  Some antlers are softer than others and will be consumed at different rates depending on your dog's size and chewing habits.  We cannot guarantee what will be the perfect size antler piece or antler type for your dog as we do not know your dog.  We try to put as much information as possible into the descriptions of our products so you can make an educated decision when purchasing our products to pick a perfect match for your dog.  If you ever have any questions or doubts about your dog and antler chewing please consult with your local veterinarian.  We will not be held liable for injury or damages that could occur from you or your dog's interaction with the antlers.  By purchasing our antlers, you are accepting the risk associated with the antlers.  Again, we recommend contacting your local veterinarian prior to ordering.

AREN'T ANTLERS HARD? WILL THEY BREAK MY DOG'S TEETH?
Chewing is a very natural instinct for dogs (as you may have unfortunately found out the hard way with your favorite pair of shoes) and is very healthy. But, chewing on things that are too hard for your dog can cause damage to their teeth.  Making sure you have the right type and size of chew for your dog is an easy way to prevent this. Different types of antlers have different hardness levels.  if you ever have any questions or doubts about your dog and antler chewing, please consult with your local veterinarian.

WILL THE ANTLER CHEW SPLINTER? COULD THAT HURT MY DOG?
Antlers are graded by the condition they are found in out in the wild. The better the condition of the antler, the higher the grade, and subsequently, the cost. While low grade, weathered antlers can splinter, Premium Grade antlers do not. At Antler Ridge Co, we only source Premium Grade antlers for our dog chews. 

CAN MY DOG CHOKE ON AN ANTLER CHEW?
One of the benefits of antler chews being 100%  all natural is the fact that they are 100% digestible and generally safe for consumption in moderation. But, if an antler chew gets small enough, it can become a choking hazard. Just be mindful of this and monitor your dog and where they are at in the chew. Once it gets to a point where it is possible for the dog to swallow the antler, it's a good idea to dispose of the chew and order a new antler from us.  It is always recommended to supervise your dog while they are chewing on the antler and to always put the antler aside, out of the way, and in a safe place when not being consumed. 

CAN THE TIPS OF THE ANTLER INJURE MYSELF OR MY DOG?
We try and provide the safest product possible for you and your dog.  Before your order is shipped, each antler piece edges are sanded and rounded to prevent a direct point or possible puncture hazard.  The tines of the antler (longer skinny pieces) naturally come to a point or tip.  Even with the sanding and rounding that is performed, the antler pieces is still not a flat, blunt surface.  Injury could result if misuse of the antler occurs or if the antler is stepped on, fell on, thrown, etc.  it is always recommended to supervise your dog while they are chewing on the antler and to always put the antler aside, out of the way, in a safe place when not being consumed.  NOTE: our whole deer antler offerings are not modified in anyway including the sanding process unless otherwise stated in the product listing.  

DO YOU PERFORM ANY CLEANING OR DISINFECTING OF THE ANTLER?
No, we do not perform any cleaning or disinfecting of the antler.  The antler or antler piece you receive will not have any chemicals or additives associated with it.  The antler or antler piece you receive will be in the same condition it was found out in the wild.  If you wish to have your antler cleaned or disinfected, please consult with your local veterinarian on how to do so.

LEGALALITY

All items we offer for sale are legally taken and can legally be sold by us according to the laws of the State of Ohio. We assume when you order an item that you can legally possess that item according to the laws of your state.  If you order items from us and you cannot possess them according to the laws of your state or country, Antler Ridge Co will hold you responsible for any penalties and/or legal fees incurred by Antler Ridge Co. All offerings of merchandise shall be interpreted to mean that Antler Ridge Co is not offering to sell items of which the sale is prohibited in your state.
